Jean Westmacott has been teaching appropriate paper-based technology (APT) to people all over the world for many years now.  She Jean Westmacottis a gifted designer of chairs and standing frames and an inspiringteacher.  She has been working as a tireless volunteer for CPA since its inception.

Jean's husband, Ken, saw a vodafone advertisement offering a year's Vodafone Foundation Logosalary for 6 winners of their competition to work for the charity of their choice.  There was only 2 weeks before the dead line and Jean was due to be in Zambia in a week.  She had to show that she could offer Cerebral Palsy Africa unique skills that would make a big difference to our effectiveness.  In Zambia she had a text message to say she had been selected for the shortlist. She arrived back in the UK with only one day to prepare for a deciding Vodafone Foundation Mapinterview - and of course she sailed through.  The judges were so impressed with the APT chair she brought with her.

From December Jean will be working full time for CPA  Her job will be to promote the provision of special equipment supporting workshops in each country where CPA works. Vodafone will pay for Jean to make 3 visits to African countries during the year.
