Therapy Training Programmes

In May 2007, Maria Ash, a UK based Bobath trained paediatric phsyiotherapist, who was an assistant trainer on the course in Zambia in July 2006, ran a 3 day follow-up workshop for some of the physiotherapists who attended that first course.CPA arranged the visit which was funded by the charity Samaritan's Purse.  Maria stayed in the Cheshire Home guesthouse in Lusaka during her stay. The following is  a report of the workshop: -

The workshop was held in the University Teaching Hospital from 21st to 23rd May 2007 for 8 physiotherapists.  Each one presented a child with CP they had been working with.  They had to show they understood the child's problems and that they had worked out a good programme for the parents to carry out with their child at home.

After the workshop the participants said they had learnt a great deal.  They welcomed the chance to refresh the knowledge they had learnt on the last course and also the opportunity to practise their handling skills with instruction.
